Christmas in July

#OOTW

COS

Don’t get scared, this is not a Christmas post. I’m not playing Christmas carols or baking some kind of bird. I barely do those things in December let alone July so bear with me. Instead, I’m talking about Christmas presents and this week’s #OOTW.

I got some wonderful presents last Christmas, one being a voucher for COS and I have only just spent it. COS is a favourite store of mine so I was thrilled to have the chance to purchase something special. With a gift like this, I was not going to spend it on the first thing I saw. I wanted it to be a special piece that reminded me of the person who gave me the voucher every time I put it on.

Six months on and I still hadn’t found what I was looking for. Not because there weren’t options! Everything I touch in COS I want, but I was being so cautious with handing over my gift.  COS to me is all kinds of heavenly block colours, crisp lines, almost an androgynous yet feminine aesthetic. When I look and wear their pieces I feel comfortable, powerful and timeless. You can see why I want everything in the store! That’s just me, COS themselves put it more eloquently perhaps;

‘COS is a fashion brand for women and men who want modern, functional, considered design. Offering reinvented classics and wardrobe essentials, we create pieces that are made to last beyond the season. Traditional methods and new techniques merge to form timeless, understated collections.’

With that done and having tried on every possible item over the past six months, I found myself with this beauty. Just another black top you say? Not at all. This top is so sleek and flared panel with contrasting peplum hemline means I’ll be wearing it both day and night!

The thing that was a real seller for me was where the peplum was placed on the garment. I go on and on about proportions but this is a good example of why it’s so important to get right. I always feel peplums make my torso look short, accentuating areas I’d rather hide. The peplum, or poplin hemline as COS have called it, is actually a bit lower than most which means both my legs and torso look in proportion creating a lovely silhouette.

You can see why I love COS and this top so much. They have made what could be just another black top interesting, versatile and stylish and I feel fabulous in it. This purchase was definitely worth the wait! Until next Christmas.
