Time for tea and cake

Christmas has been and gone and to be honest I’m glad. My motivation for any kind of Christmas cheer was close to zero this year which meant I really didn’t have enough energy to bake up a storm. Luckily I had a tea party planned with someone who shares my love for cake and magically my zest for baking returned.

I was really looking forward to my little soirée. I had planned the menu with some favourites; carrot cake cupcakes for her and raspberry and chocolate cheesecake for  me. I also tried something new making little fruit balls covered in a very bold icing. Adding to my excitement was laying the table using some of my favourite accessories. Whether a cake stand from a loved one or tea spoons from a vintage fair, using these adds to the warmth in my heart and the goodies in my belly.

My guest was told to wear stretch pants (I wore the same), there was some improvising with ingredients (I was not going to the supermarket again!) and there were enough goodies to make everyone in our household(s) happy!
