Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

It’s time to go back to the beauty bag with another mascara. You know how much I love the L’Oréal Miss Baby Roll mascara and I was reluctant to try anything else but a number of people recommended this new mascara to me so I thought I would give it a whirl.

I was going to wait to post this just to give you a break from mascara but I think it’s perfect timing. Perfect timing given how much I loved the last mascara I tried and how much I dislike this one. I’m sure there are going to be many of you who will think I’m bonkers but I really dislike the Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara so much, I can’t even use it!

To start with I bought the travel size so as not to waste money on the full size in case I didn’t like it and gosh was that a good decision. Before I even talk about the actual mascara I have to mention the wand. There is not enough space between the wand and the lid which makes its very hard to get right into the roots of your lashes without hitting your face. Very annoying indeed and it makes the application difficult. A serious design flaw and disappointing given the lid, not even the wand is the largest part of the mascara. Not great value for money especially as I can’t even put it on properly!

Ok the mascara itself. I found the mascara had a chemical-like smell that bothered me beyond belief. I didn’t just get the smell when applying it, I also got it throughout the day. I persisted with it for a few days as I had to find out why people were raving about this mascara so much. If I put the smell aside, I think the mascara itself is ok. With just one coat I thought my lashes looked fluttery but because of the smell (and lid) I wasn’t able to layer it up. With all the troubles I had with this mascara I thought it actually looked nice but I have used others that are much better.

Another eyeball close up for you with one eye done and the other bare. I’ve only foundation on & for a completely fair test I haven’t curled my eyelashes as I normally would.

The other issue I had with this mascara is that it is a complete bugger to get off. Even when I have taken it off in the evening I wake up with smudged mascara not just around my eyes but even on my cheeks! Not a good sign and far too much effort for a mascara that doesn’t blow my mind.

This is probably not a fair review due to all the things I don’t like about it but I couldn’t persist with it. I can see the attraction of Urban Decay given the quality of some of their other products but for me it doesn’t even compare to the L’Oréal Miss Baby Roll mascara.
