July’s Beauty Bag

Part II

Before we get going, if you haven’t already make sure you read Part I of this month’s beauty buys so you are up to speed.

What better way to start part II than with this gorgeous Essie nail polish in the shade lacquered up. I have long been addicted to my OPI red nail polish in the shade Big Apple Red but sadly it had its last stroke. I really like OPI nail polish but it can be expensive so off I went in search for the perfect, more affordable red. Not an easy task I have to say. Who knew there could be so many shades of red nail polish to pick from! I wanted red red, not orange red, not pink red; just red. I’ve fallen in love with Essie nail polish of late so lacquered up seemed the perfect choice!

Next up is another brush. I envy anyone who can do a winged eyeliner and in the past I’ve made the odd attempt at it but it ends up looking like I’ve been punched in the face. I figure if I’m going to do it, I might as well do it properly so I bought this angled brush from an art store and voilá! While I’m mastering the art of straight lines, this brush is the perfect addition to my collection without costing me a fortune!

I was hoping to have a very special item in this month’s beauty bag as it is time I buy something off my wish list. There are a few things that have caught my eye recently. You can’t go past  Charlotte Tilbury. Her products are just stunning and her recent Norman Parkinson collection would fit in nicely on my dressing table! NARS also have some lovely limited edition lip pencil box sets. One is the Ultimate NARS Neutral Lip Pencil set and the other is the True NARS Lip Pencil set.  I want to make sure that I will get use out of all three lip pencils and after seeing them in person I am more inclined to go for the neutral set.

Another treat and I think the front-runner, is the limited edition lipsticks from the collaboration between Giambattista Vali and MAC. If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram etc you will know that I am slightly in love with the designs of Giambattista Vali and it’s not like I’m going to wear his designs anytime soon, so this seems the perfect filler until such as day I do. I am yet to swatch these in person but the colours look absolutely beautiful.

Unfortunately a lot of these limited edition items are sold out before they hit the stores. Yes there are wait lists and of course internet shopping, but I’m a tactile shopper so I want to feel these beauties in my hands. So while I sensibly take my time in thinking through my purchase, I run the risk of missing the makeup boat. Don’t fret though, there are plenty of other things left on my wish list; Chanel perhaps!
