There’s a new concealer in my beauty bag this month and one that came recommended by you. I have been a long time user of Rimmel’s Match Perfection Concealer and felt there was no need to try something new but when something gets recommended by a lovetomtom reader, I know it’s worth a go.
Let’s take a look at Maybelline’s Eraser Eye Concealer. Your recommendation hasn’t been the first for this product and I can see why. At €11.99 I think you would be foolish not to give this a go. There are a number of shades on offer ranging from Fair to Golden. There are also two other versions, a Brightener and a Neutralizer. I decided to try the Neutralizer version as I like to even out the area under my eye rather than cover.
Before I talk about the product I have to mention the packing. It comes in a decent size tube, enough concealer to last a good while I’d say. It has a little sponge applicator attached to the top which you twist and the product appears right onto the sponge. Apply directly to your face and off you go. I initially questioned the hygiene of the sponge but realistically it is not different to using a beauty blender or makeup brush and I’ll be honest, I don’t wash them as often as I should so this is no different.
I often get put off by names and descriptions on products. Brands really need to keep in mind that less is best and this concealer is no different. Its title is ‘Instant Anti-Age Rewind. The Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer‘. Does anyone believe it is going to rewind my thirty-five year old skin? I don’t think so and there is no need for it either. A concealer in my mind is to conceal any darker areas around the eye and at best make me look a little fresher. Forget this age rewind business. Utter nonsense. The name aside, the most important thing is that this product is a keeper. Easy to apply, lovely texture and in my case using the neutralizer shade did just what you would expect. I did find this more powdery than the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer but it will come down to personal preference and your skin type. I find less is more around my eyes, especially when wearing glasses so I need to make sure my skin is well moisturised before applying this.
I have really enjoyed using this product and although I don’t love it as much as the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer, it is definitely staying in my beauty bag. To give it a good run for its money I will buy the Brightner version next.
