January’s Beauty Bag
Wow this month has flown! I can’t believe it’s time for another beauty bag already. There were only a few additions this month, it is January after all and my bank balance has seen better days. There are only a few newbies but I did restock on some old favourites. La Roche-Posay Serozinc, The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream and Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum. Why is it that everything runs out at the same time!
Onto the new products in this month’s beauty bag, first is No. 7 Beautiful Skin Dark Circle Corrector. I was clearly having a moment when I bought this as I thought I had purchased an eye serum and this product is not an eye serum! I was feeling a bit negative to start with mostly because I had bought the wrong thing! The actually product (not the one in my head) claims it ‘Instantly de-puffs, revitalises and brightens. Visibly reduces dark circles in just 2 weeks’. It has a three-roller ball applicator which I like but nowhere do I remember reading it was tinted. It is rather thin so if you’re looking for a rich cream this is not it. I have actually come to like the yellow-peachy tint and feel it takes the edge off my dark circles which is the point of the product after all! I’m yet to see any visible benefits of the product but I will report back once I have finished the tube.
Sticking with eyes, I thought I would try Rimmel’s Match Perfect Concealer. I reached for this because I like the idea of a concealer-highlighter combo. The product is described as a ‘Skin Tone adapting concealer. Conceal signs of fatigue. Highlight & Illuminate eye area. Soft precision brush for the delicate under-eye area.‘ There is a lot in there and to be honest, my expectations were low. I was completely wrong! This is actually a good product. I like the consistency and it’s easy to blend. I think if you are after full coverage you may not be a fan but I find that it does the job for me. I should say I haven’t mastered the brush. I find it hard to gauge how much product comes out, often going from nothing to too much and I hate waste! A small problem really and one that won’t deter me. Looks like I’ll be sticking with this one for a while yet.
That’s it for newbies this month but I do want to mention two oldies. Think of them as honourable mentions. I bought both these products way back in April 2015. Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a product I don’t give much thought to only because it is so reliable. I have oily eyelids and find eyeshadow on its own has no chance of staying on and since using this, my life has changed! I use the eyeshadow potion every day and not once have I worried about my eyeshadow budging. A little goes a long way and considering I use it everyday and there is no sign of the tube finishing, it is well worth the money!
The other oldie is Nuxe Rêve de Miel. I have only recently fallen back in love with this product, mostly because I’m using it for a different purpose. As a lip balm I really like it, especially overnight. It acts as a little treat for your lips and you won’t believe how soft they are in the morning! My new-found love though is to use it as a cuticle balm. One day I couldn’t find any hand cream in my bag and the balm was the closet thing to hand. Now I’m not lathering the balm all over my hands but like the eyeshadow potion, a little certainly goes a long way so a small amount on my cuticles and I’m sorted! Lips or hands, this tiny little tub goes everywhere with me.
I have some really exciting beauty products to show you in the next few months. It will all make sense when they are revealed so until then, enjoy what’s in your beauty bags.
