Same but different

#lovetomtomSBD

Don’t be scared! This is not a post about new year-new you but I am talking about the year ahead. It has taken me a while to warm up to 2016 and while I avoid making unnecessary resolutions, I have been rather reflective of late and find myself asking what do I want for the year ahead? It’s hard not to think of the new year as a fresh start. I think of every Monday as a fresh start so it’s only natural for me to want to get things going in January, or February for that matter. However, a new year does not mean a new me!

In January it’s hard to avoid reading about all the ways to change your diet, your appearance, your personality or even your shoe size and to be honest, they don’t interest me at all. The idea of a ‘new you’ makes no sense to me whatsoever. I like to think of the new year as the same me but different. Instead of making resolutions which might only last one week, I’ve asked myself (and will continue to ask) what do I want for the year ahead? I’ve already come up with a few answers and month by month I will share these with you (I’m already excited about February!) The same me trying different things, wanting different things, exploring different things, wearing different things, doing different things. See; same me but different.

It’s exciting to think of the year ahead in this way and I can’t wait to share it with you. Better still it would be great for you to join in each month. I’ll be posting updates here on the blog and don’t forget to follow lovetomtom on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Be sure to tag your same me but different with #lovetomtomSBD so I can take a peek.

Happy new year everyone!
