There aren’t a lot of newbies added to the beauty bag recently which is a good sign as I’m loving the products I’m currently using. Nevertheless I do have two to show you.
These products are stand outs. One I was a bit skeptical about buying and the other was a gift from a friend. Both have turned out to be super impressive and I’m so glad they have been added to my current skin care routine. With these newbies I continue to use Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask and am scraping every last drop out of it. Now there has been the odd night of not washing my face at all but even with that I feel like I’ve struck gold with the current combination of products. Continue reading
Clinique x Marimekko
My beauty bag is looking extra healthy the past few months with some new products taking centre stage on my bathroom shelf. Just before Lucille was born I was in desperate need for a pick me up and it was perfect timing as Clinique had collaborated with Marimekko and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on what was on offer. Continue reading
Bye Bye Pregnancy, Hello Baby
It has taken me long enough to get this post finished but I finally made it. Considering I started writing this at thirty-nine weeks when I had all the time in the world and I’m only finishing it now with a baby strapped to me you can get a sense of what the past few weeks have been like. By now you know that Lucille has arrived and I’ve entered a world of not being able to finish a single task, cold cups of coffee, eating one-handed and semi-functioning on only a few hours sleep. Throw in the cuddles, staring at the wonder that is this mysterious human and kissing her cheeks so much it’s not worth me wearing lipstick! Continue reading
Dr Bronner’s Unscented Soap
When I found out I was pregnant I decided to review my beauty and skincare products as I knew there were some I would need to put aside. That and the smell of some of my favourite products made me vomit. If you’ve ever researched anything along the lines of ‘things to avoid during pregnancy’ it’s any wonder pregnant women survive at all! It got me thinking, if all these products are so harmful to my growing baby why the hell am I using them?! Better to air on the side of caution and all that so a few I ditched and have not replaced them because the replacement products are so good they are staying permanently, especially this one! Continue reading
To balm or not to balm
Time to get back to the beauty bag and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to write about these products. Spoiler alert – I absolutely love them and wouldn’t be without them! I’ll tell you about one of them in this post otherwise this will turn into a thesis. Continue reading
There’s a new concealer in my beauty bag this month and one that came recommended by you. I have been a long time user of Rimmel’s Match Perfection Concealer and felt there was no need to try something new but when something gets recommended by a lovetomtom reader, I know it’s worth a go. Moisturised Sun-kissed Skin
I’ve two new products that have become permanent fixtures in my beauty bag the past few months and I’m delighted to let you know that I only have good things to say about these two items.
The first is a new product (to me) from La Roche-Posay. I didn’t think I could love La Roche-Posay any more than I already do but then I tried Lipikar Lait. I found after my holiday in the sun my skin had become extremely dry and I needed something super-duper to tackle it. I usually use olive oil as moisturiser applying it in the evenings before bed (not a good idea to lather yourself in olive oil and head outdoors). Lipikar Lait claims to have ‘48hr lipid-replenishing, no paragons, 100% hypoallergenic and minimal ingredients and fragrance’, but whatever is in it, it works, and does so bloody well! This is so moisturising and despite being rich and creamy it absorbs well with no slippy, greasy residue. It does have a slight fragrance on application but nothing to bother even my fussy nose. I thought I’d be battling my dry skin for weeks but within a few days of using this, my skin felt permanently soft and moisturised. Even using it on my body every second day (out of pure laziness), my skin feels smooth and healthy. I cannot recommend this product enough! Even if dry skin is not an issue for you, I would still encourage you to get your hands, legs, arms and torso smothered in it. Continue reading
I’ve been experimenting with moisturisers the past little while and I tell you, I fear I’ve been missing out! I thought I had worked out my skin care routine and was happy with how my skin was looking but it seems I’ve been doing things all wrong.
I tend not to pay too much attention to moisturisers mostly because I feel the skin care products I use provide me with enough moisture. I’ve been mistaken. Recently a friend gave me a sample of the new Vichy Slow Âge range. Actually she gave me two products to try; the cream moisturiser and the fluid moisturiser. I used both products and couldn’t tell the difference between them. But either way, I did notice a huge difference in my skin. Using the moisturisers day and night I felt my skin was much softer, my make-up seemed to apply better and overall my skin looked fresh and plump. All clichéd terms when it comes to skin care but I can’t think of a better way to describe it. Continue reading
Before I jetted off on holidays I intended to pack light. An unusual occurance for me indeed but I knew it was going to be hot and I was going to spend the majority of the time near the pool so I had no intention of doing a full face of makeup everyday. Instead I wanted something light, with a little coverage for the evenings. A tinted moisturiser perhaps or possibly a BB cream of some sort. I’ve used BB creams in the past and found they don’t agree with my skin at all. Either they didn’t provide enough coverage or they gave me too much of a glow. And not the good kind.
With little time to research, I gave this Garnier BB Cream a whirl. Before I get into the nitty-gritty I did have my eye on Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue – Tinted Moisturizer and despite nearly every review I read being a positive one, many pointed out it was not great for oily skin. At €32 I was not going to take that chance. The other product I have wanted to try for years is Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer but again at €48 this was going to require more research than I had time for. Continue reading
It’s time to head back to the beauty bag and this week I’m going to start with my recent purchase from The Ordinary. There has been a lot of hype about this brand; a brand under the Decium umbrella and if I’m honest I was totally sucked in. High-end quality skin care at reasonable prices?! Who wouldn’t be sucked in? Eager to spend my money I went straight to The Ordinary website and then it happened, I found myself in a world of confusion. It was very hard to work out what was what, in which order to use the products and whether I needed all of them or none of them! I spent a lot of time researching products which delayed my purchase but I eventually got there. Continue reading
