Beauty Bag

Clinique x Marimekko

My beauty bag is looking extra healthy the past few months with some new products taking centre stage on my bathroom shelf. Just before Lucille was born I was in desperate need for a pick me up and it was perfect timing as Clinique had collaborated with Marimekko and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on what was on offer.

I’m not normally one to go in for those bonus gifts where you have to spend a fortune to get a gift that has one item you want and five you don’t, but this offer was too good to refuse. You saw that coming. If you are buying products from a brand with a particular offer it can be worth it and case in point. I had purchased Clinique’s Post-Workout Face + Body Cleansing Wipes for labour (which were great by the way) and one of Marimekko x Clinique Pop Splash™ Lip Gloss + Hydration in the shade Fizz Pop. I’m not one for lip gloss but this is so luscious I would go back for more. Plus the Marimekko design makes it dressing table worthy. With my two purchases I got a gift set full of some great products. Three products from the Clinique Smart range; a day moisturiser, a night cream and an eye cream. Add to that the Moisture Surge Overnight Mask, a travel size High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara, a lipstick (which I can’t find so can’t tell you about that) and a perfume which I substituted an extra eye cream as they were out of stock. And don’t forget the Marimekko designed beauty bag which is a piece of art in itself.

I’ll start with the products from the Smart range. Now this is a pricey range and you know I hate wasting money (who doesn’t) so it is nice to be able to try these products without spending a fortune. Even though my skin had become drier in the latter parts of my pregnancy the day moisturiser was too rich for me so it got passed on to a friend. If you do have extremely dry skin I imagine it would possibly be worth the investment. As for the night cream I really enjoy using. It is richer than moisturisers I’m used but perfect for overnight. The twenty-four mill pot has gone a long way as with all the products and that’s always a telling sign. Similarly the eye cream is no different. I’ve only just finished the two six mill tubes and I’m impressed. I always find it difficult to fully assess the benefits of an eye cream but given the skin around my eyes are smooth with no new wrinkles I’d say the cream is doing its job. Would I pay almost fifty euro for fifteen mill? If I was that way inclined maybe I would.

The Clinique Moisture Surge Mask is my favourite of the lot. I’m rather fond of a mask you leave on overnight and this does exactly that. It feels light on application but don’t let that fool you. In the morning my skin is so soft and hydrated and I like it so much I would sometimes wear it during the day! This is one product I would buy a full size version and even venture to try others in the range.

I’ve some other products that are getting tested and so far so good so look forward to sharing them with you in the coming weeks.
