September’s Beauty Bag
It’s that time again! The months are flying through aren’t they? Especially when they are measured in beauty products! You may have noticed there was no August Beauty Bag and why would there be when all my attention was on one very special item, the stunning Stila Mind eyeshadow palette.
Let me get straight into it as I can hardly contain my excitement with the latest addition to my beauty bag and for me, a potential ‘product of the year’. A big call I know but I am in love with Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover. The product description goes something like this; ‘With Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover there is no need for cotton wool. Dip your nail in and after 1 second, you take them out cleansed!’ And it’s all true! Not only does it take nail polish off easily and quickly, it leaves my nails clean and nourished. This truly is a great product and one that I’ll be stocking up on!
Sticking with nails, my love-hate relationship with Nails Inc. nail polish in the shade Hampstead Gardens continues. The product itself is lovely, shiny, only one coat needed and it dries quickly. All positives. As far as the colour goes, well I’m torn. It is a great shade and without falling into the trap of ‘autumn colours’ it does feel right for this time of year without being a version of burgundy or army green. My issue with the colour is that I don’t like how it looks on me. I found the shade highlighted all the bits of my nails and hands I don’t like. That and the fact that Mr B said it looked like I dipped my fingers in poo! Let’s be fair to this shade and assume Mr B is colour blind, it is more mustard than poo. I will give this colour another go and if that doesn’t work I’ll be trying to find another use for it as it’s just too nice not to use.
Moving on to hair, I want to show you two products that are similar but both worth a mention. Since growing my hair, my hair routine has changed and compared to my short hair, I hardly do anything to it now. My routine consists of washing it and drying it. I want to protect my hair from heat and keep everything sleek and smooth without adding too much product and that’s where these two product com into it. The Wella LuxeOil Reconstructive Elixer was recommended to me by my hairdresser and it works a treat. I put a tiny bit on the ends and it does exactly what I want it to do. Softens and protects my hair without feeling like a grease ball. A little bit goes a long way as this 30 ml bottle has lasted me months and months. Another oil I’m using is Bio Keratin Shine and Anti-Frizz spray. I was lucky enough to get this as a birthday gift (my friends know me well) and I use it exactly the same way as the Wella oil. I tend to use the Wella oil for everyday and the Bio Keratin oil for special occasions mostly because it was a gift and it feels a bit more luxurious and special.
Next up is wet n wild Idol Créme Eyeshadow pencil in the shade envy. I am always drawn to green for the eyes but I tend to stay away, blue and green should never be seen and all that. I threw caution to the wind and thought, what the hell! The colour looked lovely and wet n wild is such an affordable brand I was happy to have a bit of fun with this colour without spending a fortune. I used it as eyeliner and my first impression was that the product is easy to use, pigmented and I have to say I was surprised with how long it lasted. The colour is unfortunately not as dark as I had hoped. I was looking for a darker shade of green but this looked a bit luminous! I haven’t decided if that’s a bad thing or not. At this stage, it is just a different look to what I’m used to but I’m going to stick with it for those days that I want to be a bit more adventurous and colourful. I would not hesitate to go back and buy some of the other shades in this pencil as I was very impressed with the product, especially for the price.
Other things that have been filling my beauty bag the past two months are products you would have seen before. If you saw my empties video on Instagram a few weeks ago you can probably guess which ones I’ve repurchased.
Until next month, stay beautiful!
