May’s Beauty Bag
I can’t wait any longer! I feel like I have wanted to show you my beauty goodies since the first week of May. I guess that’s a good sign so here we go.
The first and most impressive item is L’Oréal’s Infallible 24hr Matte Foundation in shade 20 Sand. I had put off trying this as to be honest I didn’t believe the hype and I feel loyal to my MAC Pro Longwear foundation. I mean if it ain’t broken and all that, but I took the plunge and I’m happy to say I am so impressed with this foundation. A little disappointed with the colour range but given the foundation’s popularity I’m hoping L’Oréal will widen the range. I use the tiniest amount and blend, blend, blend as the shade is a bit too pink for me. This is the only negative I have. Everything else about this foundation is great. It doesn’t budge, it keeps the shine away and it’s cheap! If you don’t have oily skin then this product won’t interest you in the slightest but if you do have oily skin, I would definitely give this a go.
Another product I’m loving this month and a bit of a surprise for me is Korres Mango Shower Gel. I haven’t used any Korres products before but I think I will be going back for more. I actually saw a review of the fig shower gel by beauty vlogger I Covet Thee and the next day I was in TKMaxx and there it was, the mango shower gel staring right back at me! I don’t even like mangos or really care for shower gels for that matter, but the smell of this is all kinds of heavenly fruity, summery goodness. Besides the delicious smell, the product itself is great and I can’t get enough of it!
Next up is a bit of a random buy, Olay Regenerist Anti-Ageing Eye Roller. I bought this product as it was reduced and I kind of liked the gimmick aspect to it. It has these 3 little silver roller balls that are supposed to ‘massage and gently de-puff the look of eyes while a caffeine-conditioning complex hydrates to reduce the appearance of wrinkles’. Completely aware of the fact that I was being sucked in, I bought it. To be honest I’m not a hundred percent sure about this yet. I can’t quite put my finger on why; it feels nice on the skin, reduces puffiness and the skin under my eyes feels soft and hydrated. All sounds good but I’m not crazy in love with it so I will make my final decision when it runs out and I have to decide whether to repurchase.
Next in my beauty bag is TopShop’s grey and white speckled nail polish in the shade Dancing in the dark. You know already I don’t change my nail colours too much. There is the odd variation but black, red and a deep maroon/wine are my favourites. Last month I bought this Essie maximillian strasse-her which is described as a ‘cool grey green’ but it’s actually a bit too blue for me! I had this on when I tried the speckled grey nail polish and the two shades looked great together. I have worn it since on its own and for me it works as a nude colour. I know of course it is not nude but I find it hard to have nothing on my nails (it’s like not wearing lipstick!) and I’m not a fan of pastel shades, so this is a good compromise. Very happy indeed with this purchase.
Lucky last and one you have probably seen over the past month is one of my goodies from Paris. I have been using L’Oréal’s Miss Manga mascara and it’s great! It has a cone-shaped wand with thick bristles and a 360º wand which I don’t understand but I guess it’s just another selling point. If you want spidery, black, in-your-face lashes, this is for you. Not to completely neglect my much-loved Benefit’s They’re Real mascara, I actually use the two. I find the smaller wand on the They’re Real mascara easier to use right at the roots of my lashes and also on my lower lashes. So, with a few coats of Miss Manga and a good wiggle of They’re Real I’m happy to leave the house.
I’m already looking forward to next month as I am saving up for a very special product and even better, I will have my shopping partner here in the flesh!
xo
i love the miss manga mascara! Also I tried the infallible, the shade 107 is a little too yellow so I really want to try it but need to get a new shade! I’ve heard so much great stuff about the foundation!!

I always find it hard to match drugstore foundation but worth the risk this time round as it really is a good one. xo
Yeah definitely! I prefer to try it from ULTA since they are easier to return or exchange than others.
Hi Jo!
Well that foundation would be too drying for me but I know a lot of people love it. Shame about the colour range 😦
I have used one Korres product … their lip balm in a little pot … it was OK but I would not buy it again and as for eye moisturizer/ balm etc …. I do not use it . I really do not think they work.
Oh yes …….. your shopping partner should be with you soon – Mmmmm …. double trouble! LOL
Yes I’d say the foundation would be a no go for anyone with dry skin.
As for my shopping partner double trouble indeed!!! xo
