May’s Beauty Bag
This month has really been a mixed bag but there are two standout products that within a month of using them I know they are staying permanently in my beauty bag!
Let’s get going with the good ones. First up is a lip crayon; with only one day of wearing it, I declared it my new red! I picked this up from Penneys and it has a price tag of €2.50! It is a fantastic colour, easy to apply (I’m rather fond of any makeup product that’s in crayon form), it is comfortable and not drying on the lips and lasts a hell of a long time! To give you an idea of just how long, I applied it first thing in the morning, ate my lunch, had a coffee or two, re-applied it, ate some more and that night I had to take it off with makeup remover. I’m so impressed with it, I’m going back to buy more in every shade it comes in!
There was another newbie in the lipstick department this month but in comparison, I feel it was a disaster! I couldn’t wait to try Rimmel’s The Only 1 lipstick. I was so looking forward to it because of the colour but from the very first slide across my lips I knew it wasn’t for me. It felt too creamy and seemed to slip and messy! I felt I couldn’t get a good shape with it and the more I tried to fix it, the more I made a mess. I didn’t like how it looked throughout the day and although the colour was lovely, I won’t be wearing it again.
I decided to take a chance on this next product. It actually took me a few attempts to get my hands on it but I got there in the end. L’Oréal’s Tecni Art Volume Lift Spray Mousse was a delightful surprise. At first, I didn’t read the tin properly and applied it like a regular mousse and let’s just say I wasn’t impressed. On further inspection (helps if you read the label) I worked out how to use this mousse and it is blooming fabulous! I have worked out the precise amount I need to give my roots a lift without my hair feeling full of product. I finally understand what people mean when they say they want more volume in their hair. This product is so amazing that when I went to get my hair cut, my hairdresser actually commented on how great my hair was looking!
Last for this month is Nuxe Sun SPF 30 Tanning Oil. Oh this scent! I can’t quite put my finger on what it reminds me of, but the scent of the Huile Prodigieuse range is heavenly comfort. I’ve used the dry oil before and loved it and this is no different. It feels luxurious on, protects my skin and did I mention the smell?!
